    Silikal Reactive Resin Seamless Flooring
    VS. "Rubber" / PVC Flooring

Silikal flooring has a long history in commercial kitchens and food processing areas, because Silikal floors have properties other floors cannot match. Unlike welded PVC and rubber floors, Silikal floors are bonded tenaciously to the concrete or wood sub-floor with a primer that is chemically identical to the body coats and wearing surface.  This provides a completely seamless and monolithic flooring surface.

Licensed Silikal installers have renovated many commercial kitchens by replacing welded rubber flooring that promised much and performed poorly.

The rubber floors failed two key tests:

Safety:   The floors initially deform from heavy loads which cause the weld seams to split and result in trip hazards.  The rubber floor surface will lose its grip and become progressively more slippery; slip, trip and fall accidents increase progressively.

Hygiene:  Once the weld seams split, liquids and grease will work its way under the floor allowing the growth of bacteria, fungus, mold and the emission of foul odors.

Rubber floors can easily come unglued and delaminate at terminations, drains and cove bases.  Often the damage is extreme enough to erode the sub-floor.  The floating floor soon becomes a living quarters and a breeding ground for other unwanted pests and vermin.

A licensed Silikal installer will quickly remove the rubber floor then clean, prepare and repair the sub-floor.  A Silikal 61CQ-M floor can then be installed with an integral crack bridging membrane and cove base, all in a short period of time.  The floor can often be installed while your kitchen crew is at home catching those needed hours of sleep and back in service before they show up for work in the morning.

But don’t take our word for it, contact us and we will provide a list of satisfied customers, a list of restaurant owners and managers that told the rubber to hit the road.
