Silikal reactive resin
flooring is comprised of what is
best described as enhanced
methylmethacrylate (MMA). A
side by side comparison of
physical properties shows little
difference between other MMA
flooring and the Silikal product
because the chemical composition
of the products is similar.
Cure times along with tensile,
compressive and flexural
strengths will all be similar if
not identical. Although these
properties can be adjusted to
provide specific engineering
characteristics, they are not
the ultimate test of a flooring
system.
The difference only becomes
evident when evaluating the
performance of the products. The
life expectancy of a Silikal
floor far exceeds the life
expectancy of other MMA
products. This is a result of
the quality feed stocks of raw
materials used by Silikal and
the enhancements to these basic
ingredients that eliminate
application characteristics
which will contribute to
pinholes and chemical absorption
in the finished flooring systems
of our competitors. For these
reasons, a Silikal floor will
outlast the competition and
remain crack resistant,
non-porous and pinhole free
throughout the life of the
floor. The other floor may be
an MMA but there is only one
Silikal. Silikal products
are manufactured by Silikal GmbH
under an ISO 9001 certified
quality management system and
are exclusively available in
North America through Silikal
America.
